Pusha T takes aim at the rap game on new song “H.G.T.V.”

The rap landscape is a wasteland in the eyes of Pusha T. On his new release “H.G.T.V.” he remorselessly castigates his contemporaries, most notably Drake — “Too far gone when the realest ain’t real” — as Mike WiLL Made-It’s minimalist 808 and snare groove brings his voice to the fore. He encourages his flock to ignore the haters (“Don’t listen to ’em, Desiigner!”) and declares himself “rap’s John Grisham” and later “Blobama,” asserting his place as coke rap’s el presidente.

“H.G.T.V.” marks Pusha’s first formal release since “Drug Dealers Anonymous.” Together, these songs portend an either darker direction on his upcoming album than Darkest Before Dawn.
